Athens Federal Community Bank, N.A. announces promotions for two key leadership roles within the bank’s executive management team.

Chris Adams has been promoted to Area President for McMinn and Monroe Counties. His primary responsibilities include overall leadership and deposit sales strategy for the two markets, including management of customer acquisition, retention and service standards.

Adams joined Athens Federal in 2002 and has served the institution in several capacities, including public relations, management, retail sales, and most recently as Vice President/Deposit Operations. A native of Athens, Adams graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College (University) with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, and is a graduate of the Southeast School of Banking and the Georgia Bankers Association Southern School of Operations and Technology.

He was recognized as by his alma mater as Outstanding Young Alumnus in 2003, was named Young Man of the Year in 1997 and 2017 Man of the Year by the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining Athens Federal, Adams served as executive director for United Way of McMinn and Meigs counties. He has served in numerous leadership roles in the Athens and McMinn County community, and is currently a member of the Athens City School board, campaign co-chair of United Way of McMinn & Meigs counties, board member and past president of the Athens-McMinn YMCA, and active member and former President of the Athens Kiwanis Club. Adams and his wife, Meloyne, reside in Athens with their two sons, Brady and Rylan.

Nicole Gibbs has also been promoted to Vice President/Chief Banking Officer. In addition to retaining her current duties as director of the bank and subsidiaries’ marketing and communications efforts, Gibbs will also assume responsibility for operation, strategic direction, and leadership of the bank’s retail deposit network, including management and development of all retail products, services and personnel.

Gibbs began her career at Athens Federal in 2011 as Vice President of Marketing and Communications. During her tenure, she has led several promotional initiatives and programs to drive sales, enhance customer service, boost efficiency and help achieve year over year record growth and profitability. A native of West Tennessee, Gibbs earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications/public relations from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and graduated summa cum laude with a master’s degree in corporate communication from Austin Peay State University.

She was inducted to the UT Martin Communications (PRSSA) Hall of Fame in 2005 and was named one of the Daily Post-Athenian’s “20 Under 40” in 2012. Prior to joining Athens Federal, Gibbs served as director of marketing and communications at Tennessee Wesleyan College (University), where she was recognized as Staff Member of the Year in 2009. She is Treasurer of the Grace & Mercy Ministries board of directors, board member of the Athens Downtown Business Association, Athens Area Chamber of Commerce diplomat, previous board member/technology committee chairperson of the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum, and President of the board of directors of the HOPE Center and Children’s Advocacy Center of the 10th Judicial District. Gibbs and her husband, Daniel, reside in Cleveland.
